How to Make Paper Flowers
Making a 3D paper sunflower may sound difficult, and by looking at her work it may appear that it is, but by following Elizabeth Currie-Matsko’s instructions you’ll see the process is not as complicated as you may think! In this video she provides complete, step-by-step instructions on how to make paper flowers, a paper craft you’ll want to use time and again, whether for scrapbooking embellishments or other paper crafts such tags and themed cards.
By using the convenient hand-held Gypsy by Cricut she designed the components of her sunflowers, which construct the various layers of petals for the corolla of the flower, and after cutting them out with her Cricut she assembled the flowers. Watch how she gives the petals various textures followed by inking to add a stressed look. By adding a sense of a third dimension and depth to the embellishments she added a sense of bringing the item “to life.” Doing so makes your album more engaging for the reader and helps tell your story better.

By adding multiple layers of petals to the design she creates a richness in that a single layer of petals could not provide. By assembling and stacking the many tiny petals in the center of the sunflower she creates a 3D appearance the gives authenticity to the flower designs.
