Barnett’s Quilting Frame for the Lap Makes Quilting Easier
Barnett’s quilting frame for the lap solves a big quilting problem. Quilting frames or hoops consistently pose a common problem, that being adequate space. When you allow room enough to walk around or be seated, larger frames can require a dedicated room as a workspace. If you’re interested in using smaller frames, Harry Barnett exhibits his woodworking craft of laptop quilting hoops. Smaller in size with multiple options, and in addition to space requirements, these quilt frames reduce the fatigue that sometimes accompanies quilting.
In this video Harry tells us the story of how his father started making the unique laptop quilting hoops for the ladies in his wife’s quilting guild, and soon the hobby became a small part time business that he was operating from the basement in his home. Harry now operates the family business and has made improvements in the construction design and functionality of the hoops.
He takes pride in preserving the heritage of his business. The commitment to quality workmanship shows in the sturdy construction of each piece, and he says he will customize the hoops to suit your personal needs, if desired. I like the innovation he offers such as the frame with an open bottom that allows air circulation underneath the quilt when used as a laptop quilting stand. And whether seated or for table top use the adjustable angles of the stand makes the needle work much easier.
